Bluesman Doyle Bramhall Sr. Passes Away
Singer, songwriter and blues drummer Doyle Bramhall Senior passed away over the weekend at his home in Alpine. Bramhall was a key figure in helping establish Austin’s blues scene in the 70s. He wrote and co-wrote several songs for Stevie Ray Vaughan and released three of his own albums.
His most recent was his 2007 Grammy-nominated solo album Is It News. The Continental Club hosted a memorial show Sunday night in Bluesman Doyle Bramhall’s honor. He was 62 years-old. Funeral services are pending.

No More Free Parking at ABIA Garage
Austin Bergstrom International Airport has done away with the free 30-minute parking at its garage and Lot A. ABIA is now directing people to its new free cell phone waiting area. Drivers can wait in that area, off Spirit of Texas Drive, until passengers call them for pick-up. Airport officials say an increase in passenger traffic has driven up demand for parking.
