KUT and the Localore Initiative
Bright Light Social Hour/Amy Chambless/KUTKUT is very excited to have thrown our collective hat into the ring to be part of an exciting new initiative called Localore. The project, a brainchild of the Association of Independents in Radio or AIR, is part of AIR’s drive to transform public media. In cooperation with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, AIR is looking for 10 Lead Producers to focus their ingenuity on blending digital and traditional broadcast tools and platforms to expand the reach of public media in local communities and establish new capacity for R&D at stations. AIR will team these 10 producers with 10 public radio and television incubators with the idea of creating projects that will help lead public media to a new vision of what can be accomplished here in the 21st century.
AIR is a broad and growing network of 800 media makers, journalists, producers, technologists, and sound artists who represent an important and vital driving force in the media-technology revolution underway. Many of the pieces that we feature on KUT’s O’Dark 30 are produced by members of AIR. Localore is one of the most exciting public media initiatives we’ve seen and we’re very excited to have a chance to participate.
