Eleanor Friedberger is half of Brooklyn based duo The Fiery Furnaces, a group known as much for their indie-pop/rock style as they are for their tendency to change that style completely. With the band, Friedberger provides most of the vocals while her brother Matthew handles most instrumentation. Recently, Friedberger released her first solo album, Last Summer, which carries over the literate, offbeat lyrics and half sung, half spoken style from her work with the Fiery Furnaces. Both adventurous and easily acceptable, Last Summer received positive reviews from critics and fans alike. Host Jody Denberg recently sat down with Eleanor Friedberger in Studio 1A to talk about the album, and you can listen to the interview and performance below.
