Perry Floats Flat Tax, Balanced Budget

Just a day before delivering a speech on his proposal for a flat income tax and plan to balance the federal budget, Gov. Rick Perry has released details in an Op-Ed in the Wall Street Journal. KUT’s Ben Philpott is on the road with the Perry campaign today in South Carolina, where the governor will talk more about his proposal.

AISD Wrestles with Overcrowding

The Austin Independent School District is trying to fix its overcrowding problem. But as KUT’s Nathan Bernier reports, AISD is still trying to confront lingering doubts from the last time it tried to revamp the way it manages its facilities.

Constitutional Amendment 1

Early voting has begun for the November 8th election. Texans are voting on 10 constitutional amendments – dealing with everything from water projects to student loans. KUT’s Matt Largey explains Proposition One on this fall’s ballot.
