“These two stories—Doctors on Healthcare and NASA End of the Space Shuttle—not only inform, but listening to them reminds us of the incredible power of the human voice to connect, engage and inspire,” said Vanderwilt. “KUT reporters and producers continually seek out the voices of Texas to tell our region’s story. These two National Murrow awards recognize the exceptional work day-to-day work of the KUT News organization.”
Announced in June, these are the first national Murrow awards for KUT News. Both projects, which were produced in 2010, won regional Murrow awards in April to qualify to compete at the national level. The awards, which competed in the national large market radio category, are:
۰ Doctors on Healthcare (Curran profile), reported by Nathan Bernier, in the “audio reporting: hard news” category
۰ NASA End of the Space Shuttle, produced by Emily Donahue and reported by Nathan Bernier, Mose Buchele, Matt Largey, Ben Philpott and Jennifer Stayton, in the “audio news series” category
KUT News has won 26 regional Murrow awards since it was established in 2002.
