Hearing for Hasan Thursday

An administrative hearing will be held Thursday morning in the case of the accused Fort Hood shooter. The defense is asking whether Major Nidal Hasan is entitled to get expert assistance at the expense of the government. Hasan is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder for the November 2009 shootings.

Gov. Perry Floats Private Social Security Option

When Texas Governor Rick Perry rolled out his plan to cut taxes and shrink the federal budget – he also listed 5 new principles on how to fix Social Security. One of those was to allow states and local governments the ability to opt out of the program and come up with a local, private system. For KUT News and the Texas Tribune, Ben Philpott takes a look at how one private system in Texas has worked out.

Proposition 2 on Water Bonds

Texas voters will find 10 state constitutional amendments on the November ballot this year. One of them would give the state the authority to issue up to $6 billion in bonds for water infrastructure projects across Texas.
