Francis Mbappe is a breeder of music. For his entire career he has taken genres, mixed them together, and produced an excellent new blend. A Cameroon native, Mbappe has never lost sight of traditional African music, as a taste of it can always be found in his genre-bending mixes of jazz, rock, funk, and rhythm and blues. His most recent album, Peace is Freedom, could be seen almost as his thesis on the blending of genres. It’s the apex of his career’s work, with such a unique sound created from the distilled essence of those other genres. Francis Mbappe will be in town this weekend and he will be busy. He’s got an in store appearance at Waterloo Records on Thursday, a concert at Flamingo Cantina on Friday and another show at the Elephant Room on Saturday. Listen to him live RIGHT HERE!
