Around Town: Ditch the Fest Fest

October 4, 2011 12:19 pm by: Rebecca McInroy

The Austin City Limits Music Festival has become the unofficial end of summer event here in Central Texas (too bad that the temperatures didn’t take their cue from that designation!). But it wasn’t the only way to enjoy a great weekend of live festival music in the capitol city.

For a second year Ditch the Fest Fest took place during ACL weekend and at $5 a wristband, it was definitely a low-cost alternative to the goings on in Zilker Park. Put together by Lucy The Poodle Production, DTFF expanded to five different venues (Cheer Up Charlie’s, Red 7, Beauty Bar, The Scoot Inn, and Club De Ville) with a total of nine stages. This year’s DTFF also set aside a portion of their proceeds for victims of the recent Central Texas wild fires.

Ditch the Fest Fest 2 enjoyed another great year as you’ll see in this video from KUT Storyboard intern Hayden Goldman. Enjoy!
