Some bands are out of place, some are out of time, and some are even a little bit of both. The Suede Uppers might originate from Austin, but they take their cues from mid-60s London, England, when Mods ran the scene.

The group has only been around about a year, but they’ve recently been tied to 29th Street Ballroom’s “Top Of The Pops” concert series. It’s a good fit, as Top Of The Pops pays tribute to the infamous British TV show of the same name that chronicled the Mods’ rise. The Suede Uppers sound like a beamed-in transmission from an old Top of the Pops episode, taking inspiration from the Who and the Kinks.

“She Ignites Me”
is pure ’60s pop, but there’s a strain of Oasis-like jangle that cuts through the mix. The song is taken from the Suede Uppers’self-titled debut, out later this fall. But in the meantime, you can take a listen below.
