People who come to ACL know you’ve got to be ready for any kind of weather. Today was a soft shower. The crowd rocking to the beat of rapper Theophilus London cheered as the rain briefly cooled the afternoon.
Deepu Sudahakar says the crowd enjoyed the soft rain in silence, then broke into cheers.
“I mean we haven’t seen rain in how many months now?” Sudahakar said. ” It’s pretty nice to actually. I think I forgot what rain looks like.”
Gray clouds continue to hang over the festival keeping the hot sun at bay. Volunteers are collecting donations for the victims of the Central Texas wildfires. Harry Willkiams dropped a few bucks in a fire boot.
“There’s something about firefighters, the spirit that they give, it’s all love,” Williams said.
People seem to be abiding by the city’s request for no smoking. If there is a hick up on this first day of the festival, it’s that cell phone service is spotty for the thousands out here at Zilker Park.
