Looking past the Republican primary to the general election, Rick Perry‘s campaign today released an ad contrasting its characterization of Barack Obama’s first years in office — “zero” accomplishments on jobs, change, etc. — with the Texas governor’s promise of national renewal through new leadership.

Those depressing pictures at the beginning of the ad were probably shot in Texas. After all, Texas is tied with Mississippi for having the largest percentage of low-wage workers in the nation. In any case, if cutting taxes for the wealthiest Americans and corporations means job growth and a stronger US economy as Perry believes, why are we in a long recession? George W. Bush cut taxes repeatedly. Shouldn’t we be seeing the economic benefits by now?

    Great soundtrack, but zero content!
