Call it a weakness, but there is no resisting a great triple bill. And I, your Austin Music Minute maven Laurie Gallardo, have got another gem for you – three remarkable indie songwriters under one roof.
Michael Kingcaid (I, like KUT’s John Aielli, find myself raving about this man’s voice) records and performs as a solo artist and is also widely known for his work as frontman for the band What Made Milwaukee Famous.
Ana Egge, a phenomenal songwriter based in New York City, released her new album Bad Blood last month. Lucinda Williams once described Egge as “the Nina Simone of folk.”
Elaine Greer is another extraordinary vocalist and storyteller. She performs with local band The Sour Notes, and is also making a name for herself through her solo work. She released a full-length album, Annotations, this year.
All three of these artists are favorites of mine. Do make time to check them out at their show Thursday night at the Mohawk, 912 Red River, on the inside stage. Doors open at 9 p.m. Recommended.
