Bastrop County Approves Recovery Plan

Bastrop County has been in recovery mode for weeks now. But county commissioners this week approved an official wildfire recovery plan. The plan outlines what tasks local agencies are in charge of. The first priority is clearing all of the debris. Bastrop County will also hold several town hall meetings to talk about the recovery efforts. The first one is October 10th.

Jobs Dominate Debate Over Keystone Pipeline

Hundreds of people turned out in Austin Wednesday to give their opinion  of what the Keystone XL project will mean to Texas. 1,700 miles of pipeline would transport tar sands oil from Alberta, Canada to the Texas Gulf Coast.  KUT’s Erika Aguilar has more details on the Newspod.

The Monarchs are Back, But Struggling

If you notice a shock of bright orange blowing through the Austin air these days, it could be a falling leaf or it could be a monarch butterfly, making its annual migration down to Mexico. As KUT’s Mose Buchele reports, a lot has changed for the Monarchs since the last time they flew through Texas.
