ACL Review, Photos: Francisca Valenzuela, Friday, Vista Equity Stage

If you wanted to be flip about it, you could describe Francisca Valenzuela as a Chilean Fiona Apple with sprinkle of Regina Spektor. If you did, you wouldn’t be doing the 24-year-old California born, Chile transplant justice.

Valenzuela’s no stranger to the festival crowd. She has performed at SXSW, Latin American Music Conference in New York as well as far flung events in Mexico and Pompeii. She’s also got two albums and even a couple of books under her belt.

Valenzuela got the crowd going with the single “Quiero Verte Más” (“I want to see you more”) from her second and most recent album, Buen Soldado. Valenzuela’s energetic and engaging, her vocals soulful and powerful.

Quiero Verte Más, indeed. With Valenzuela’s voice and infectious jazzy, funky piano pop, more people will be wanting to see more of her.
