ACL Photos, Reviews: TV on the Radio, Saturday, Google +
TV on the Radio took the Google+ stage just as the sun was setting over a rain cooled crowd. Standing shoulder to shoulder with fist pumping music fans is so much more enjoyable when you aren’t sticking together. The N.Y. indie outfit got the hands in the air right off the bat with a full bore rock n’ roll set with songs pulled primarily from their newest album, Nine Types of Light. The group rolled straight from one song to the next and by mid set the bass heavy number “Will Do” and the amped up raver “Repetition” had the crowd moving along with every beat. Add in a fantastic light show in the dying sunlight with a starry backdrop on stage and you had the perfect environment to enjoy TV On the Radio’s quirky brand of atmospheric indie rock. The crowd seemed to agree as they called for an encore as the band filed offstage. But don’t take my word for it. Just ask Christian Bale. He was totally there.
