Dance Umbrella’s 10 Minutes Max is an annual dance showcase with a long history. Started in 1989 as Performance Plus, the show has been a platform for new and veteran dancers and choreographers for more than two decades. The program consists of eight performances by both groups and soloists, each of which lasts no more than ten minutes (hence the title). It serves as an opportunity for artists to try out new material before an audience, often offering a sneak preview of what’s in store for the next performance season.

Since the showcase includes talent from Austin and from around Texas, it also serves as a much-needed venue for choreographers and dancers from smaller communities that often don’t have a regular place to perform. This year’s showcase will feature a wide range of dance, from modern to flamenco to afro-fusion to Bharatanatyam.
