For Kevin Peroni, making music was always a solitary experience. He began writing tunes under the moniker Wiretree around the middle of last decade, culminating in 2007s debut, Bouldin. But he figured he should put together a proper band to take the songs on the road, so he recruited Joshua Kaplan to play guitar, Rachel Peroni (his wife) to play the bass, and Daniel Blanchard on the drums. Kevin says the band gelled together so well that when it came time to begin recording Wiretree’s latest LP, Makeup, it made sense to go into the studio as a band and put the tracks down live, with very few overdubs.
Leatherbag frontman Randy Reynolds sat in the producer’s chair for this effort, lending a proper Brit-pop ear to the recording. Wiretree is set to release Makeup to the masses on September 6th and have a scheduled in-store performance at Waterloo Records at 5pm today. Before heading over to Waterloo, however, Peroni(s) and Co. were kind enough to drop by KUT to give us a live preview of the new record. Check out the entire performance BELOW.
