What We’re Watching: Molly’s Run
screen grab from videoEvery week here at Storyboard we share a video or website that inspires the work we do and the stories we like to tell. It’s really nice when we come across a piece that not only inspires our work, but also inspires us as human beings to do more and be more than we thought possible.
Produced by Justin Yurkanin for the Las Vegas Review Journal, Molly’s Run follows novice runner Molly Sheridan, a 52-year-old mother of three, as she prepares for and competes in The AdventureCorps Badwater Ultramarathon endurance race. Her goal is to complete the 131-mile trek, which is widely considered the world’s toughest foot race, in 48 hours. To do this, Molly will have to run and walk almost nonstop through Death Valley in July, where the relentless heat at times will reach 120 degrees and radiated temperatures from the road can soar above 200 degrees.
We are grateful to the folks at the Las Vegas Review Journal for giving us this piece that stirs within us the desire to push the boundaries of what we think is possible, and also for reminding all of us here in Austin that “hot” is a relative term.
We hope you enjoy Molly’s Run winner of the 2009 KobreGuide award for Best Video and 1st place winner of Best of the West Multimedia Story. It’s What We’re Watching.
