Tiger Darrow was a recent John Lennon Songwriting Award finalist for a tune she penned called “Sunshine Song.” It’s a rather impressive mark to make, considering that she just graduated from the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts this year.

Darrow spent much of her childhood on film sets, but music is really what captivated her imagination. The young songwriter is a singer and multi-instrumentalist, and has gotten a number of comparisons to Norah Jones and Regina Spektor. Her influences cover a more wide range – everything from Imogen Heap and Danny Elfman to Bon Iver and U2.

Be sure to see Tiger Darrow perform Wednesday night at the Cactus Cafe, located at 24th St. and Guadalupe in the Texas Union building, on the UT campus. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 8:30 p.m.
