Lindi Ortega @ KUT 8/29/11

August 30, 2011 10:52 am by: Haley Howle

Lindi Ortega has one of those voices that is instantly recognizable. Think Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, et al. The Toronto-based singer-songwriter has had her fair share of struggles in the music world, but with the release of her full-length record, Little Red Boots, it’s finally her time to shine. Yet, Ortega doesn’t take her days in the shadows for granted, on the contrary she says, “I don’t know who I’d be as a musician if it wasn’t for my struggle.” Her blend of alt-country has been featured on NPR’s World Cafe and landed her a gig accompanying The Killers‘ Brandon Flowers on his recent solo tour. The name of her album came from, where else, the little red boots that she bought as an homage to one of her favorite super heroes, Wonder Woman. Lindi Ortega recently stopped by KUT’s Studio 1a, and you can listen to the entire performance RIGHT HERE!
