Austin City Council Revisiting Several Issues

The Austin City Council voted Thursday to settle a wrongful death lawsuit with the Nathaniel Sanders family. The 18-year-0ld Sanders was fatally shot by a police officer in 2009. Thursday’s vote reversed a council decision made last year. As KUT’s Mose Buchele reports, it’s the latest revisiting of issues that seemed settled just a few months ago.

Auditorium Shores Getting a Makeover

The City of Austin and the state are dedicating some money to improve Auditorium Shores. Texas Parks and Wildlife has awarded Austin $1 million to make improvements to the park. The city is matching that grant. Plans include realigning part of the Hike and Bike trail, restoring the shoreline, improving restrooms and adding parking. It will be at least two years before all changes are finished.

Weekend Traffic

A couple of popular Austin events could cause traffic delays downtown this weekend. Batfest and Night of the Bats is Saturday on the Ann Richards Congress Avenue Bridge. And the Hot Sauce Festival is Sunday at Waterloo Park.  Find detailed road closure information here.
