Thousands of Warrants Recalled in Travis County
A Travis County Justice of the Peace is recalling over 13,000 outstanding arrest warrants. They are for class C misdemeanors. Judge Glenn Bass said he is recalling the warrants because the constable for Precinct Two was offering payment plans to some defendants, but not all of them. Defendants now have until October 1st to contact the court and resolve their cases.
Texas Executes Man for Double Murder
Texas executed its ninth prisoner of the year last night. Martin Robles was put to death for fatally shooting two rival gang members in Corpus Christi in 2002. Those killed were 19 year-olds John Commisky and Jesus Gonzalez.
Governor Perry Dropping More Hints
Speculation is swirling that Governor Rick Perry could finally make his presidential intentions clear this weekend during a speech in South Carolina. On Wednesday, Perry made his first public appearance since those stories began circulating over the weekend. And as KUT’s Ben Philpott reports on today’s podcast, the Governor kept dropping hints.
