It’s Friday, it’s angry hot outside, and we’re spending all of our time in the air conditioning, so there’s no better time than now to enjoy an ice-cold O’Dark 30 podcast. Today we’re featuring a couple of highlights from our recent “playing favorites” show. Our beleaguered but stalwart host, Hawk Mendenhall, likes to enjoy a little audio comfort food when he’s overheated and overly put-upon, so when that happens he picks some of his favorite pieces and new stuff from some of his favorite producers.
We’ll start of with an O’Dark classic, Jake Warga’s Haunted Cabin. If you’ve never heard this piece in your years of dedicated O’Dark listening, we’re pretty surprised. We’re also pretty happy to give you a chance to finally rectify that situation.
Then we’ll bring you an all-new edition of The Mikie Show. One of the things we love about Michael Carroll’s delightfully odd show is the intriguing list of subject tags each episode carries. This episode, for instance, is tagged with (among other keywords) “Meat Loaf,” “Kermit the Frog,” and “extra-terrestrials.” How will Mikie tie them all together? Tune in and find out!
