Erik Wofford is the mastermind behind Cacophony Recorders here in Austin. Wofford’s esteemed list of credits is a long one that couldn’t possibly be named here in it’s entirety, but here are some names to drop: The Black Angels, The Calm Blue Sea, Golden Bear, Explosions In the Sky, Bill Callahan, Shearwater, One Hundred Flowers, and on and on.

In a recent interview he gave for Adi Anand in Shoot Good Media‘s series Soundboard, Wofford discussed his earlier experiences as a DJ and sound engineer for UT student-run station KVRX, where he soon  became producer of their Local Live program. Recording live bands for the show gave him tremendous insight into the workings and intricacies of recording musicians and really getting a feel for what they’re about.

Now I, your Austin Music Minute hostess with the mostess Laurie Gallardo, will venture to embarrass him even further by announcing his birthday today to the world. And what better way to celebrate than with a live music show featuring a few of the local bands he’s worked with. Wofford’s birthday spectacular is tonight at the Scoot Inn, located at 1308 E. 4th St. at Navasota. You can see performances by The Pons, Black Books and Dark Water Hymnal. Get there by 9 p.m.

A very happy birthday to you, Erik. Here’s to more great sessions at Cacophony. Cheers.
