Charlie Faye @ KUT 8/20/11

Last year, Austin singer/songwriter Charlie Faye decided to take the idea of the “road record” to the extreme. She didn’t just tour the country to play gigs, you might say she toured the country to live. Faye organized a ten-month tour – spending an entire month in each of the ten towns she visited – putting together a different backing band at each stop. She says she wanted to get a sense of the city, it’s music scene, and it’s community.

Faye also decided to record a new song with the local musicians she encountered in each town (including members of Calexico, the Eagles, and Navarro among others). The result is Travels with Charlie, a brand new ten-song LP.

Now home from the ten-month excursion, Charlie Faye dropped by KUT’s Studio 1a to visit Kevin Connor, and you can listen to the entire performance RIGHT HERE!
