There’s nothing better than a good rumble to get you goin’. Oh, wait a minute – not that sort of rumble. I’m talking about The Rumble Austin, a local monthly music showcase presented by The Onion A.V. Club Austin. They put together some stellar line-ups for these shows, and tonight’s show is no exception. Take note of these local gems:

-This month’s headliner is ambient rock quartet The Asteroid Shop, led by songwriter Eric Brendo. The band is preparing for an October release of their self-titled debut.

-Psych and synth pop band Bali Yaaah – they’ve crossed a heavy-duty ’60s vibe with the best ’80s-inspired dark and dreamy dance synths that a new wave fan could ever hope for.

-Bluesy rock duo Ghost Wolves – and this is not your typical blues-rock set. Songwriters and musicians Carley Wolf and Jonathan Konya give it a gritty edge and a rough ’60s garage rock sound that turns heads.

The Rumble Austin starts around 8:30 pm tonight at Beerland, 711 Red River. Recommended. And special thanks to the The Onion A.V. Club Austin, the Austinist, Covert Curiosity and Austin Town Hall for the information.
