Austin’s The Calm Blue Sea emerged from the latest SXSW as a band on the rise. National media outlets like Esquire, NPR, and almost every local music critic were impressed with the group’s powerful onstage presence not to mention the epic 8 minute songs that are actually enjoyable. Like their contemporaries Explosions in the Sky, The Calm Blue Sea have made a name for themselves as a purely instrumental band. While that might be enough to scare most people off those who stick around are treated to epic aural soundscapes that seem to continually build momentum. The group is set to rerelease a remixed version of their 2008 eponymous debut August 2nd. You can catch a tune (or two… we’ll see how many they can fit in) RIGHT HERE!
