SBOE Discusses Errors In Science Materials

The State Board of Education is meeting today to take a final vote on instructional science materials that will be used in Texas classrooms. The board met yesterday to take public comment. KUT’s Nathan Bernier wraps up what happened at the meeting.

Fort Worth Fracking Report

In North Central Texas, a drilling practice called “fracking” is used to extract natural gas from the Barnett Shale. But Fort Worth residents are concerned about what fracking is doing to the land and to residents’ health. Bill Zeeble from KERA in Dallas reports on a public meeting held in Fort Worth to discuss a study done by Eastern Research Group on the impact.

Gas and Temperatures Go Up

Gas prices are ticking up in the Austin area. AAA Texas reports that gas prices are up 16 cents in the past two weeks – to an average of $3.59. This summer Texans won’t be able to catch a break on the heat either. 100 degree weather is likely to stick around through the weekend. Check the forecast here.
