Cedric Benson Released from Jail
Former University of Texas football player Cedric Benson has been released from Travis County jail. The Cincinnati Bengals running back was arrested early Sunday morning on a misdemeanor charge of assault causing bodily injury. Benson’s attorney said in a statement the incident involved a former roommate.
Benson has a court date next month for a different assault with injury charge. In that case, he’s accused of punching a downtown bar employee last year.
Erosion Eating Away Part of DowntownTrail
The water power of Shoal Creek is eating away at the banks of Lady Bird Lake downtown. A tiny peninsula of the Hike and Bike Trail is eroding. KUT’s Erika Aguilar reports the City of Austin is proposing two ways to fix the problem at a community input meeting Tuesday.
Outdoor Burning Banned Across Texas
Nearly the whole State of Texas is under outdoor burn bans. The Texas Forest Service says 246 of the state’s 254 counties currently have burn bans in effect, including all Central Texas counties. Only a few counties in North Texas and South Texas aren’t under burn bans.
