July 1, 2011 – This Week in Membership
Signed support beamWas it just me or did June seem incredibly slow? July will more than make up for it though. Most of the Development Staff are attending the Public Media Development and Marketing Conference in Pittsburgh. While we are there, we hope to learn about volunteer databases, how and when to solicit funds and innovations in electronic solicitations. We also will learn about popular thank you gifts while there. We also come back to Austin very rejuvenated and excited about the ways we can improve our communication with donors.
Earlier today I signed a support beam for the new KUT building. It will be one of the last beams placed in the building that is being constructed for KUT and the UT College of Communications. The building is going up across the street from where we currently work. It has been really exciting to see a parking lot transform into the foundation of a building. I’m sure it will be even more inspiring to see the walls being filled and shrubs and trees being planted.
KUT is currently housed in a building that hinders productivity. We are separated across two different floors. People work in very crowded conditions. I literally have gone more than a month without seeing co-workers. We are all very excited about moving into the new facility. In addition, the services KUT will be able to provide listeners will improve. We will be able to integrate more of the things that we do and share thoughts easier.
KUT will be operating on a skeleton crew on the Fourth of July. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday. I hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend.
