It’s an all-local edition of the O’Dark podcast today. We’ll bring you two pieces from the fine folks at Stories from Deep in the Heart, a project that’s been put together by Texas Folklife. It’s a youth radio series (and our host loves youth-produced radio) that got its start a couple of years ago with a bit of help from KUT. Our first story from Deep in the Heart is “The Traditional Mexican Wedding,” from youth producers Anai Fuentes and Carla Roman. Anai and Carla interview their mothers to give us an inside look at a tradition many of us are unfamiliar with.
Then we’ve got a little something from our buddy Gregory Brandt. Gregory’s a Kerrville native and UT graduate who lives in Austin and tells stories. This one’s a good one, and it’s called Hemingway and Hunger.
We’ll wrap things up with one more visit from the youth producers of Stories from Deep in the Heart. From producer and DJ Yithzak Ledesma, it’s “I Love Tejano Music.”
