Danny Reisch is a local producer with an amazing roster to his credit. He’s worked with the best of the best:  Suzanna Choffel, White Denim, Bright Light Social Hour, and Golden Bear, to name a few. So naturally, if he recommends any bands that I, your Austin Music Minute maven Laurie Gallardo, should check out, I’m going to sit up and pay attention. That’s exactly what happened when he introduced me to Brass Bed.

The Lafayette, LA band was busy laying down new tracks in the studio one afternoon when I went to interview Reisch, and after that brief preview, I was immediately hooked. Their debut release, Melt White (2010), is an impressive collection indie/power pop tracks that reflects a lot of ‘60s and 70s influences, dreamy and heavy on melody. This is definitely a band to keep an eye on.

Don’t miss Brass Bed’s show Tuesday night at the Mohawk, 912 Red River, on the inside stage. It’s a cool line-up that includes The Pushpins, Magic Landing and Red Corso. Doors open at 9 p.m. Recommended.
