This is the Texas Top 5 – where we bring you the week’s top five albums from Texas artists. Our friends at Waterloo Records compile a list of their top selling albums each week and we put our spin on it. LISTEN HERE!

5. Steve Earle, I’ll Never Get Out Of This World Alive

Making a home in the  number five slot: Steve Earle, with an album that gets its name from a Hank Williams song, I’ll Never Get Out Of This World Alive. Though the song is not featured on the album, some lucky fans got to hear Earle play it during a recent in-store performance at Waterloo Records. See it for yourself in the video below!


4. Okkervil River, I Am Very Far

Austin’s Okkervil River returns to the number four postion this week with their latest – I Am Very Far.

3. Suzanna Choffel, Steady Eye, Shaky Bow

Suzanna Choffel’s newest release Steady Eye, Shaky Bow comes in at the number three spot for the second week in a row. She’ll be back in Austin at Threadgill’s on June 17.

2. Bob Schneider, A Perfect Day

Bob Schneider with A Perfect Day at number two. He returns to his Monday night residency at Saxon Pub Monday June 13th.


 

1. Sarah Jarosz, Follow Me Down

Holding down the number one spot in the Texas Top 5 this week – Sarah Jarosz with her latest release Follow Me Down. She was just nominated by the Americana Music Association for Instrumentalist of the Year. Listen to the live performance of ‘Old Smitty’, one of the instrumentals off Follow Me Down, recorded in KUT’s Studio 1a!
