When it comes to vocal powerhouses Ruthie Foster is at the top of the Austin charts. Ruthie Foster started singing gospel music as a child at her church in Gause, Texas. You would think then that Ruthie Foster has always been making music, but it wasn’t until her stint in the Navy that she really started performing for the big crowds. In 2009 Ruthie Foster’s most recent album The Truth According to Ruthie Foster was nominated for a Grammy Award and in 2010 she was awarded with  Blues Female Artist of the Year at the annual Blues Music Awards. Ruthie is celebrating the 10 year anniversary of her record label Blue Corn Music with a free show at Antone’s. Several of her label mates will also be performing. Ruthie stopped by our Studio 1a to talk with John Aielli about her upcoming gigs andplay some of her favorite tunes. Listen to her performance RIGHT HERE!
