For some, songwriting just comes naturally. For others, it’s a right of passage. Robyn Ludwick likely couldn’t avoid the songwriting bug even if she wanted to. After all, her two older brothers are Bruce and Charlie Robison. However, after getting a degree from UT’s School of Engineering, getting married and having a kid, it seemed that her path was already paved – and writing songs and being on the road didn’t really fit. But soon after the Ludwicks had figured it all out, Robyn was laid off.

With the time off, she started writing songs again and released For So Long in 2005 to local critical acclaim. And just a few months ago, Ludwick released her third full length, Out of These Blues. The record was produced by veteran multi-instrumentalist Gurf Morlix (known for his work with Lucinda Williams) and features a cast of notable Austin musicians including Ian McLagen and Slaid Cleaves.

Hollywood” is the single from Ludwick’s latest record. This version of the tune was captured live in KUT’s Studio 1A.
