Ocote Soul Sounds CD Release Show Friday Night at The Beauty Bar

Adrian Quesada and Martín Perna are, to put it mildly, all over the place. The talents of this Grammy Award-winning duo get pulled in all different directions with a multitude of musical projects on their respective plates, including Quesada’s Grupo Fantasma and his most recent endeavor, The Echocentrics, and Perna’s Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra.

But is there time for a break? Should one rest on his laurels? Of course not. Leave it to Quesada and Perna to charge ahead with their band Ocote Soul Sounds for another round of fantastic beats. Their latest release, Taurus, is a treasure trove of everything that makes their Latin-charged psych so cool – funk, soul, Afrobeat and hip-hop rhythms bowling you over. This is one of their best albums yet.

Ocote Soul Sounds is having a CD release party Friday night at The Beauty Bar, 617 E. 7th St. Of course, the evening wouldn’t be complete with an all-out dance party with spins provided by Peligrosa DJ’s Orion, Hobo D and Manolo Black, plus DJ Chorizo Funk, and a performance by Los Bandidos Cosmicos. Doors open at 10 p.m.

This is a party and a half. Recommended.
