This kind of electricity is a mind-blower. Not In the Face! is the type of band that will capture your attention with their first song during a live performance. There’s no stalling. They launch right into the action and proceed at full-throttle.

The duo is lo-fi gem that really requires only two players in the band to make it explosive. It falls somewhere in the (Texas, mind you) redneck rock ‘n’ roll vein – very fiery, unrestrained and spectacular, with the unleashed energies of songwriter and vocalist Jonathan Terrell and drummer Wes Cargal tearing up the place. The recently-released full-length Bikini has some reviews referencing The Black Keys and The Replacements because of its raw, ignited revelry.

Not In the Face! is celebrating their album release with a show tonight at the ND at 501 Studios, 501 I-35 at Brushy Ln. Joining in on the party are Crooks, The Ripe, Lights Go Out and Joshua Bain. Things get started after 9 p.m.

Well done, lads. Check ‘em out.
