As part of Austin’s Art in Public Places program, the city’s new skate park on Shoal Creek Boulevard will feature two  pieces of functional art created by sculptor Chris Levack. A skater himself, Levack decided to create a work of art than can be skated, which he calls Iron Wave. In addition to this piece, he also created Trilobite Shade, which serves double duty as an object of beauty and a functional shade for the park’s “chill space.”

The official opening of the skate park is Thursday, June 16 at 10:00 a.m.

The park is located at 1213 Shoal Creek Blvd.
