Austin jazz hounds should listen up to this one! Black Red Black may be one of the newest jazz outfits in town but the musicians that make it up are no strangers to the scene. Austin native Brannen Temple started playing drums at the age of 10 and has spent the past decade teaching at the Butler School of Music at UT, Trumpeter Ephraim Owens brought his trumpet to town in the mid 90s and has been a fixture in jazz clubs ever since, and last but not least the newest and maybe most experienced player in the Austin jazz scene is organist Red Young. The trio also plays around town as the Ephraim Owens Experience. Black Red Black came into our studios to showcase some tracks off their new album recorded live at Lamberts in downtown Austin. You can catch their awesome interpretations of jazz masters at The Highball every Wednesday. Take a listen to Black Red Black in KUT Studio 1a RIGHT HERE!
