Around Town: Blanco Lavender Festival

June 24, 2011 5:02 pm by: Rebecca McInroy

Earlier this month Storyboard ventured out on a hot Sunday afternoon in search of “Norman Rockwell’s America,” and right in the heart of the Texas Hill Country we found exactly that at the Blanco Lavender Festival.

It’s a big thing for Blanco,” said Francis Richie as she cooled off with a glass of lavender lemonade at the Hill Country Lavender Farm. “Blanco is not just Blanco, it’s not just a little city…It’s really people’s hearts and souls and everything that goes into all this.

Blanco, Texas is about 50 miles southwest of Austin and for the 7th year in a row they opened up their delightful lavender farms and set up tents and booths in the town square for the Lavender Festival. You can sip lavender champagne, sample delicious food, dance to live music, and purchase a wide variety of arts and crafts as well as culinary delights.

We hope you enjoy this video postcard we brought back to Austin from our visit.
