Rick Perry made history last November, becoming the first person elected to three four-year terms as governor. Now there’s speculation that he’d like to make more history, by becoming the second consecutive Texas governor to be elected President of the United States.
Nothing’s etched in stone, and Governor Perry has told reporters that he’s focused on the legislative session. But, as other Republicans bail out of the 2012 race to the White House, Perry’s staunch anti-Washington, anti-Obama Administration stances would make him a very attractive candidate for the GOP nomination.
In this week’s “Texas Political Parlor,” KUT’s Ian Crawford and Jason Embry of the Austin American-Statesman examine the trail of bread crumbs that may lead Rick Perry to the GOP Convention in Tampa 15 months from now.
