Today’s podcast features two pieces from O’Dark Hall of Famers: Michael Carroll and Jake Warga. You know Michael, of course, as “Mikie” of The Mikie Show renown. This time around, we’re bringing you #13 in the ongoing Mikie Show oeuvre, titled “Sharon.” In this episode, Mikie talks with Sharon Holnback, who owns and operates a haunted dude ranch in Arizona. He also brings the sort of assorted oddness that you’ve come to expect from the Show of Mikie.

Haunted dude ranches would seem to be right up the alley of Jake Warga, who’s a favorite independent producer of ours. He’s both a radio producer and an amateur ghost hunter, so if there’s anything haunting-related on the podcast, you’d expect it to be Jake’s doing. But, this week at least, you’d be wrong. The piece we’re bringing you today is actually the first radio piece Jake ever produced, some ten years ago. It’s a departure from his usual, lighter fare, and it’s fairly astonishing that this was his first attempt at producing radio. The piece is called Brian’s Story, and it’s a moving look at Jake’s friend Brian and why he attempted suicide.
