Combining strong folk influences with a more ethereal modern-rock sensibility, Rhode Island quartet The Low Anthem frequently dazzles on both recordings and in live performance. Utilizing criminally underutilized instruments such as the pump organ, clarinet and harmonica, the band creates a rustic ambiance on their haunting, country-flavored ballads. The Low Anthem recently released their fourth album, Smart Flesh, and will play a show Tuesday May 3rd at Central Presbyterian Church. You can hear The Low Anthem when they performed in KUT’s Studio 1a for host Jay Trachtenberg.
