The guys in The Couch are the ones whose parties end with a noise complaint. Granted, that’s not an unlikely scene in the town of San Marcos, but they broke the mold by continuing to write and record after their college-house lease ran out.

The trio – whose members also play in The Calm Blue Sea and Frank Smith – have since relocated to Austin, where they’re gigging more and acquiring a growing fan base.

The Couch will release a series of free downloads on their Bandcamp site in batches of three. At the end of the summer, they have plans to take a vote from fans and record those fan favorites on an album.

Front man Taylor Wilkins, dummer Jud Johnson and bassist Kyle Robarge blend blues, soul and classic rock and roll to put out a sound that you can’t help but dance to. “Close To You” has all the makings of a summer anthem, but in a rocking-Austin-summer kind of way.
