Here it is, only Monday and we’re already bringing you the Tuesday podcast. It’s like Christmas in July! Or, more accurately, it’s like Tuesday on Monday, which doesn’t sound nearly as impressive of fun. Why would do this? Our Senior Executive Officer of Pods, Casting, and Pod/Cast Synergy is taking tomorrow off to celebrate his birthday, and while we find that to be both unprofessional and insubordinate, we agreed on the condition that he get his podcast duties taken care of before he leaves.

In our groundbreaking, first of its kind Monday podcast, we’re going with a sports theme. Leading off, we’ve got Diamond Day from our old friend Graham Shelby. He’s a fine storyteller, a good father, and one of our favorite Kentuckians, and this baseball-themed memory warms our little hearts.

Up next is The Shot Heard ‘Round the World, from producer Thom Butler. This installment of Thom’s Extra Innings takes us back to 1951, and one of the most famous home runs in baseball history.

Last but not least, it’s the latest in the semi-regular Portrait of an Artist series from KUT’s Rebecca McInroy. In this installment of the series, Rebecca talks with famed sportswriter Sally Jenkins.
