Yes, I must admit that I, your Austin Music Minute hostess with the mostess Laurie Gallardo, still get weak in the knees for the old-school country. That’s why you hear me getting all enthusiastic over local bands like Mike & The Moonpies. It’s something about the fiddle and pedal steel that melts the heart. They enjoy bringing a honky-tonk vibe – with their own twist – wherever they go. Their next target is right on the Drag.

The band’s invited two friends to start the evening out. Jonathan Terrell, frontman for country-fried roots duo Not In the Face, and Aaron Sinclair, songwriter and vocalist of Austin band Frank Smith, will do some solo performances. All in all, the evening will include generous amounts of country, roots, folk and rock with a little twang to it.

Don’t miss the show Wednesday night at the Hole In the Wall, 2538 Guadalupe. The music starts at 9 p.m. Recommended.
