May 13, 2011 – This Week in Membership

I discovered QR Codes this week. I’m a bit addicted to them. I just told a co-worker that we should start using QR Codes for the Cactus Cafe posters. QR Codes are bar codes, that when scanned by a smart phone, automatically take someone to the Web site specified by the QR Code. We are going to start using them on renewal letters. We are also going to use them to promote events. They are free to create and super easy to use.
The other exciting thing I’ve been playing with is Wordle. The image above was created using Wordle. It is all of the comments made about sustaining members during the membership drive. We track what comments volunteers receive when they are taking a pledge. I searched for comments about sustaining members and used them to create the image above.
I’ve read through some interesting research gathered by Cygnus Applied Research. In February, I sent a message out to donors asking them to complete a survey. The results have been released. I have learned a lot about donors plans for giving in 2011. To learn more about the survey, please click here.
The other thing happening this week: rain! It was so fantastic. I used the new KUT Umbrella to get to work on Thursday so I wouldn’t get drenched. My umbrella had a messed up logo. Did those of you who received a KUT Umbrella use it during our recent storms?
