Early Voting for Austin Elections

Early voting is underway for the May 14 City of Austin elections.  Three city council seats are on the ballot.  Incumbents Chris Riley, Randi Shade and Laura Morrison are seeking re-election.  Early voting locations include the UT campus, Travis County’s main tax office on Airport Boulevard and some Randalls and H-E-B locations.

ACC Names Finalist for President

Austin Community College’s Board voted unanimously last night on a lone finalist to be ACC’s next president and CEO.  The Board chose Dr. Richard Rhodes, who is currently president of El Paso Community College.  Rhodes is also chair of the Texas Association of Community Colleges.

Delay Continues for Endeavor Launch

NASA now says shuttle Endeavor will launch no earlier than Tuesday. Technicians will spend the coming week testing the Space Shuttle’s electrical system. A problem with an electrical switch box grounded Endeavour Friday. On today’s newspod, Carrie Feibel of KUHF in Houston has the details — and the disappointment — from Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
