KUT Listeners and new Volunteer at Decemberists soundcheck

May 6, 2011 11:37 am by: Kim Cates

This past weekend, 8 people got the Stubb’s outdoor stage all to themselves…and The Decemberists. On Saturday, a handful of KUT listeners won special passes to meet The Decemberists, and watch the soundcheck before their sold-out show.

Having the Stubb’s massive outdoor amphitheatre to themselves was a bit surreal to some of the listeners (The Decemberists would play to 1,000+ people there later that night). The tiny audience laughed as frontman Colin Meloy joked about the “real live soundcheck”, and got to see the band from an entirely new perspective as they rehearsed and set up for the big show later that night. KUT staffer Kayla Gabriel and new volunteer Lisa Murray, who met the KUT winners at the venue, said “They sounded fantastic, and afterward Chris and Jenny came and chatted with us. The whole thing was delightful.” Lisa took some great pictures of the soundcheck – check out the slideshow below to see them!
