Members of the Brooklyn-based indie quintet Here We Go Magic had previously collaborated on other projects before combining ideas and releasing their self-titled debut album in 2009. Frontman Luke Temple had opened for Grizzly Bear and The Walkmen, and even headlined at CMJ.

Their first album was a head-on blast of two completely different styles, and it worked – melodic folk weaving its way through electronic layers and repetitive loops. It also made their new fans wonder what the next album would bring.

Happily, it would be something spectacular. Pigeons was released last year, and kept up the fluttered, frantic pace with multiple keyboards, percussion and scattered vocals. There are driven rhythms and a sparkling vibrancy throughout. At the same time, there’s something slightly more ethereal within it.

Here We Go Magic has a show tonight at The Parish, 214 E. 6th St. Opening the show are Brooklyn quintet Caveman, and Austin indie rock trio Shells. Doors open at 8 p.m.
